I’m a 36-year-old male in the Las Vegas area and was diagnosed by Dr. Daejoon Anh of Cardiovascular Consultants of Nevada in March. In early January I went into v-fib twice and had a defibrillator implanted in my chest, however, my previous cardiologist failed to make the correct diagnosis, consequently, he prescribed 200 mgs Amiodarone twice a day, which is a drug that should avoided by people with Brugada. In early March my defibrillator shocked me twice while at home. In the ER I was intravenously given 600 mgs of Amiodarone and Lidocaine, also a drug to be avoided. These medications sent me into v-fib 32 times in 10 hours, and I was, of course, shocked that many times—needles to say this was not pleasant. My previous cardiologist, as well as 11 other cardiologists from his practice, had no idea what was wrong with me.
Dr. Anh is incredible. After being in the ICU for 5 days Dr. Anh basically diagnosed me over the phone, requesting an EKG with the leads placed in the correct location to identify Brugada. I believe that Dr. Anh was mentored by Dr. Subramaniam Krishnan (who was at the University of California, Irvine Medical Facility and is now moving to the Sacramento, CA area and is mentioned in a previous post). Also, other cardiologists at Cardiovascular Consultants of Nevada have patients with Brugada, including Dr. Niuton Koide.
