I'm Jane and my partner has recently been in and out of hospital with suspected Brugada, he is 37. He has had symptoms for years but all ecgs, blood tests have always been clear so he has always been discharged as being fine. On a recent submission to hospital after I had to phone an ambulance to him it was found by a cardiologist that something wasn't right with his ecg. He is now waiting for an appointment to see a specialist at Wythenshawe, Dr Fox. I have witnessed his many symptoms and was wondering if any of you have developed a twitch, mainly in the right arm? He only started with this twitch a few weeks ago when he was admitted to hospital after he started with chest pains and difficulty breathing at home whist watching TV. He gets regular fluttering in his chest, what he explains as shock like feelings that last for a split second but take his breath away and sometimes cause him to pass out for a few seconds which is isn't aware of at the time. Since being admitted to hospital twice over the last three weeks his symptoms have been more regular and I am worried as waiting for an appointment could take weeks. Has anyone else had to wait as an outpatient to be seen for a definite diagnosis and treatment? Is there anything I can do to help him when he is experiencing these attacks?
He has also been put on bisoprolol Linda and since taking this has started experiencing a burning sensation that starts in the middle of his chest and travels down both arms, do you experience anything like this? I am going to speak to his doctor about this just to be on the safe side.
He has a family history of heart attack and unexplained sudden death on his father's side, all between 30 and 50 years of age. His dad is the only one of his siblings that is still with us and was told years ago that he has an arrhythmia.
